Love for Other Believers

Sixth: Love for Other Believers

After your life is changed, you may want to spend more time with people who have also experienced this transformation in their lives. You may want to seek out others who believe in Jesus and spend more time with them.

This happened even in the earliest history of the Christian Church recorded in the Bible. These early Christians not only attended regular church services, but between church meetings, they met in each other’s homes during the week, as their schedules allowed.

“The believers shared a common purpose, and every day they spent much of their time together in the Temple area. They also ate together in their homes. They were happy to share their food and ate with joyful hearts.”—Acts 2:46 (ERV)

This can be another sign to you that you truly have been saved because whether you realize it or not, you want to be where you belong. These are the people with whom you have the most in common. They are believers in Jesus, just as you are. You may feel that you’ve finally found the group where you belong.

“All of you are children of the light. You are children of the day. We don’t belong to the night. We don’t belong to the darkness.”—1 Thessalonians 5:5 (NIRV)

“If we love our brothers and sisters who are believers, it proves that we have passed from death to life.”— 1 John 3:14 (NLT)

Just a quick word of caution: All believers in Jesus are not yet mature in their faith. Sometimes they don’t act like Christians at all! You may witness some Christians behaving in very un-Christian ways. Don’t be discouraged when you encounter this. Keep your eyes on Jesus. Follow Him, and He will guide you.

“We must never stop looking to Jesus. He is the leader of our faith, and he is the one who makes our faith complete. He suffered death on a cross. But he accepted the shame of the cross as if it were nothing because of the joy he could see waiting for him. And now he is sitting at the right side of God’s throne.”—Hebrews 12:2 (ERV)

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”—Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)
