More Light

“You are my God. You bring light into my darkness.”—Psalm 18:28 (NIRV)

As counselors, Dennis and Melanie Morgan-Dohner helped many people find freedom from their problems, even those suffering from crippling issues of past traumas. At one point, they were overwhelmed by the problems that people were bringing to them. Feeling overwhelmed and inadequate to help heal the hurts and solve the problems that their clients were bringing to them, they cried out to God for help.

In response, they clearly heard God say, “Ask Me for more light.”

That began a very exciting adventure for Dennis and Melanie. They abandoned the previous strategies and techniques they had used before with limited success, and they simply began asking God for more light.

Time after time, in response to their requests for more light, God Himself revealed the truth that had been hidden in darkness from their clients. When the truth came, healing happened in a moment! Suffering that may have lasted for years was over! Darkness was gone! Light had come, and with it came answers and healing from years of trauma!

On October 5, 1999, my friend, Eric, had been on the scene of the Paddington train crash in London where two trains had collided head-on. Thirty-one people were killed and 417 were injured. Eric spent that entire day dealing with an overwhelming number of people who were experiencing excruciating suffering. That experience affected him very deeply, just as the horrible experiences of war affect military veterans.

For years, Eric underwent all kinds of treatments and therapy sessions with psychiatrists and psychologists, but he was still plagued by nightmares, stress, and the effects of trauma. He was unable to work for about five years after his experience on that horrible day of the train crash.

Then, with other members of his church ministry team, Eric attended a workshop with Dennis and Melanie Morgan-Dohner. At one point in the workshop, Dennis stated that “inner healing is easy, and it’s quick.”

Eric, who had struggled through many years of therapy for post-traumatic stress, felt offended by this statement that seemed to minimize his suffering.

During the break, Eric approached Dennis and said, “I don’t believe you!”

Dennis replied, “That’s alright. Give it a couple of days and we’ll talk.”

On the third day of the workshop, Dennis had the group participate in an exercise. He asked everyone who had feelings of inadequacy to close their eyes. Then Dennis told those in the group to ask Jesus to tell them personally what His Truth was about that issue of their inadequacy.

In that moment, Jesus Himself spoke to Eric and told him truth about himself that he had not seen before.

Eric’s eyes suddenly opened wide, and he exclaimed, “It IS that quick! It IS that easy! I was wrong!”

After years of walking in the darkness of post-traumatic stress, Eric was healed and freed in a single moment as the light of God’s Truth illumined Eric’s understanding of that situation. All of the darkness was dispelled, along with the pain, the suffering, and the nightmares!

Now Eric ministers to others and leads them to discover the light of God’s truth that brings solutions for the darkness of the problems and issues that have caused them so much suffering.

God Brings Light Into Your Darkness

What God did for Eric, He also wants to do for you! Whatever problems you are facing, God wants to bring the light of His perfect solutions into your life. He knows the problems that you are facing better than you do. He understands your suffering, and He has the answers that you need.

God is not far away. He is with you in all of your troubles. Cry out to Him for help. Ask Him to bring light into your darkness and guide you into the best solutions for your problems.
