By Any Means Necessary

Prophetic Significance of The Hunger Games - Part 14

Assassination attempts can take many forms, as the Games in Catching Fire showed. First, the victors encountered an electric force field that knocked Peeta on his back, stopping his heart and forcing Finnick to perform CPR to bring Peeta back from near death.

Later, they encountered the poison fog, the killer apes, the high waves, the blood rain, … The whole intention of the twist with the quarter quell Games in Catching Fire was to assassinate the victors.

It’s worth noting that all of these assassination instruments were inventions of the news and entertainment media who controlled the Games.

Here in America, it seems that we are in the midst of our own quarter quell Hunger Games as multiple assassination attempts are directed at the victors of the 2016 Presidential Election.

A partial list of  plots to put an end to President Trump’s political career have been outlined in an article in the National Review1. Among other attempts, the article makes note of allegations of voting machine tampering, efforts to persuade members of the Electoral College to change their votes, post-election protests, and various efforts to introduce articles of impeachment. This is not to mention the Stormy Daniels scandal and the ongoing probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Assassination of the President seems to be an obsession among those in the Resistance movement. This was graphically portrayed by the viral photo of comedian Kathy Griffin holding an image of the bloody severed head of Donald Trump.

“The problem for Trump’s pop-culture foes is not whether to imagine or advocate killing the president. That’s a given. They just need to agree on the means of doing so: decapitation (Kathy Griffin), incineration (David Crosby), stabbing (the Shakespeare in the Park troupe), shooting (Snoop Dogg), explosives (Madonna), old-fashioned, Lincoln-style assassination (Johnny Depp), death by elevator (Kamala Harris), hanging (a CSU professor), or simple generic assassination (a Missouri state legislator).”

*… *

“Insidiously and incrementally, we are in the process of normalizing violence against the elected president of the United States. If all this fails to delegitimize Trump, fails to destroy his health, or fails to lead to a 2018 midterm Democratic sweep and subsequent impeachment, expect even greater threats of violence.”1

The Great Deception

At the heart of these assassination attempts is a great deception that is fueling the Resistance movement, and this deception is being relentlessly propagated by the news and entertainment media. Many of the people who are advocating for the assassination of Donald Trump, politically or otherwise, are convinced that this would be the best thing for the country. In fact, there are many who believe that they would be doing God’s will by removing President Trump from office.

“…and the time is coming when those who kill you will think they are doing a holy service for God.”—John 16:1-3 (NLT)

There was another time when God’s people were so deceived that they actually killed the very person who had been sent by God to deliver them. At that time, Jesus prayed on their behalf, “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:34 KJV)

Of course, Donald Trump is not our savior. I am not comparing him to Jesus Christ, but it is true again today that the people don’t know what they are doing. The deception is very powerful. This was illustrated in one diabolical assassination attempt in the Hunger Games films in which Capitol forces used tracker jacker venom to turn Peeta against Katniss, poisoning his mind with lies about her.

The brainwashing of Peeta was so successful that when they were reunited near the end of the 3rd film, Peeta physically attacked Katniss, and might have killed her had not Boggs clubbed him over the head before he could finish strangling her.

In the final film, after Peeta joined Katniss’ military squad, he confessed, “I’m sorry. I just can’t tell what’s real and what’s made up any more.”

As the squad made its way closer to the Capitol, Finnick attempted to  counteract the deception by reciting truth to Peeta and prompting Peeta to repeat it aloud, over and over.

It’s Not About Party Politics

If this was only about party politics, then those who are endeavoring to remove President Trump would all be from opposing political parties, but that is not the case. Many influential people in the Republican party have joined in the resistance against the Trump administration. Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney may have been the first to publicly denounce Donald Trump, even before he was elected, but many Replublicans have risen against him. Some of them hold very powerful positions in the government.

Katniss experienced this same sort of betrayal in the final *Hunger Games *film. President Coin, leader of the rebellion, sent Peeta out to join Katniss’ squad as they made their way toward the Capitol. This put Katniss in danger because Peeta had not yet recovered from his brainwashed drive to destroy her. Katniss approached Boggs, her squad commander to express her serious concerns about this.

Katniss: He’s gonna try to kill me, especially with all of this going on. It’s gonna set him off.

Boggs: We’ll keep him contained.

Katniss: Why would Coin do this?

Boggs: Here’s all I know. It was Peeta that she wanted rescued from the Arena. She never liked you. She doesn’t like anybody or anything she can’t control.

Katniss: So she would put my life in danger?

Boggs: She’d deny it, but …

Katniss: What?

Boggs: One way or another, this war is going to come to an end. They promise a free election. Maybe she’s starting to see you as a threat.

Shortly after this conversation with Boggs, Peeta did kill one of their squad members and attempted to kill Katniss by throwing her into molten tar. That assassination attempt was fueled by the powerful deception that had been inflicted upon Peeta. The deception that drove Peeta, and twisted his thinking into seeing Katniss as an enemy who must be destroyed is representative of the deep and powerful deception that is driving many who see President Trump, not as an instrument of Heaven, but  as an enemy who must be destroyed.

Make no mistake. The spiritual battle is real. Our nation—and the world—is in real peril. If Satan can destroy what God is doing in our nation at this time through the presidential administration of Doanld Trump, he will do it by any means necessary. The mad frenzy to destroy Donal Trump by any means necessary is reminiscent of the assassination of another vessel of God’s choosing 2,000 years ago. Arrested and brought to trial on trumped-up charges (pardon the pun), the Bible tells us that:

“The chief priests and legal experts through cunning tricks were searching for a way to arrest Jesus and kill him.”— Mark 14:1 (CEB)

Doesn’t that sound very similar to what has been ongoing since the election of Donald Trump? In Jesus’ case, they were seeking physical assassination. In the President’s situation, political assassination—destruction of his political career and removal from office—seems to be the main goal, but in other ways, the experiences seems very similar, probably because the same spiritual force that was behind the assassination of Jesus is now seeking the assassination of our President, Donald Trump.

“The leading priests and the whole high council tried to find something that Jesus had done wrong so they could kill him. But the council could find no proof that would allow them to kill Jesus. Many people came and told lies against Jesus, but they all said different things. None of them agreed.”—Mark 14:55-56 (ERV)

This is the stage we are in now. Accusations are flying, but so far, the Resistance has not found sufficient cause to impeach President Trump and cut short his God-ordained purposes as President of the United States, but we cannot allow ourselves to be complacent.

As Christians, it is imperative that we intercede powerfully and diligently on behalf of our President, our nation, and the future of our world. Remember, when legal accusations could not provide sufficient cause to assassinate Jesus, the accusers simply brushed aside the rule of law and killed him anyway, without legal cause. We cannot assume our President will be treated justly or protected by our legal system.

“Then Pilate called together the chief priests, the rulers, and the people. He said to them, ‘You brought this man before me as one who was misleading the people. I have questioned him in your presence and found nothing in this man’s conduct that provides a legal basis for the charges you have brought against him. Neither did Herod, because Herod returned him to us. He’s done nothing that deserves death. Therefore, I’ll have him whipped, then let him go.’

*“But with one voice they shouted, ‘Away with this man! Release Barabbas to us.’ (Barabbas had been thrown into prison because of a riot that had occurred in the city, and for murder.) *

“Pilate addressed them again because he wanted to release Jesus.

“They kept shouting out, ‘Crucify him! Crucify him!’

“For the third time, Pilate said to them, ‘Why? What wrong has he done? I’ve found no legal basis for the death penalty in his case. Therefore, I will have him whipped, then let him go.’

“But they were adamant, shouting their demand that Jesus be crucified. Their voices won out. Pilate issued his decision to grant their request. He released the one they asked for, who had been thrown into prison because of a riot and murder. But he handed Jesus over to their will.”—Luke 23:13-25 (CEB)
