A Deeper Dive Into the Book of Revelation - Part 1

One of the most avoided books in the Bible is the book of Revelation. Some people are fascinated with it, but many others assume that they cannot understand it because sadly, other Christians have told them that the book is impossible to understand, even for those who have spent years in Bible schools.

If that wasn’t bad enough, many sermons and teachings about the book of Revelation have left people feeling confused and fearful.

If that has been your experience, that is a sure sign that what you heard in those messages was not the true message of the book of Revelation.

Jesus told us in Matthew 7 that we would be able to discern the validity of messengers by their fruits. If the messages that you have heard about the book of Revelation have left you feeling hopeless, fearful, and confused, then you can rest assured that the messages you heard were not the true messages of God.

In 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV), Paul told us that “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind, not a confused mind!

It is really a tragedy that so many people have been deceived into believing that the message of the book of Revelation is confusing and fearful. The very first verse of the book tells us that it is intended to be the revealing of Jesus Christ, and not in any way intended to confuse us! It is given to us to reveal and explain the mysteries of God!

“[This is] the revelation of Jesus Christ [His unveiling of the divine mysteries]. God gave it to Him to disclose and make known to His bond servants certain things which must shortly and speedily come to pass in their entirety. And He sent and communicated it through His angel (messenger) to His bond servant John”—Revelation 1:1 (AMPC)

To believe that we cannot understand Revelation is to deny the promise of Jesus which declares to us that, “To you it has been given to know the secrets and mysteries of the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 13:11 AMPC).

In my experience, coming to a clearer understanding of the book of Revelation has helped me to finally understand other passages of the Bible more fully. When God gives you understanding of the book of Revelation, that understanding will shine the light of revelation on many other passages of Scripture. In other words, understanding the book of Revelation helps you gain a deeper understanding of the entire Bible.

God wants us to read and understand the message of this book. He gave it for our benefit.

To motivate us to dig into this book, God infused this book with blessings that you cannot receive from any other book. The book of Revelation is the only book in Scripture that is especially anointed to impart blessings to its readers and to those who listen to it being read.

“Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.”—Revelation 1:3 (ESV)

Do you want your family to be blessed? Read the book of Revelation with them! If they have questions about its meaning, seek God together for His answers! He will be happy to give you wisdom and understanding.

“If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.”—James 1:5 (NLT)

“So I say to you, ask and keep on asking, and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking, and you will find; knock and keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who keeps on asking [persistently], receives; and he who keeps on seeking [persistently], finds; and to him who keeps on knocking [persistently], the door will be opened.”—Luke 11:9-10 (AMP)
